St. Hugh's High School Alumnae Association Canada

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Daphnie Morrison Scholarship, established in 2022, aims to honor the remarkable contributions of Mrs. Daphne Morrison, an esteemed English teacher at St. Hugh’s High. Her impact on the lives of many alumnae was the basis for creating a scholarship in her name a natural and heartfelt choice.

The scholarship initially sought to award five scholarships of CAD $500 each to support students with financial need. Due to successful fundraising efforts, the program was able to expand its reach, providing seven scholarships of CAD $500 each in its inaugural year.

In 2023, the scholarship program continued its mission by awarding a total of seven scholarships. In 2024, four scholarships were awarded to students from grades 9 to 11, each valued at CAD $500. Additionally, three scholarships were awarded to students from grades 12 and 13, each valued at CAD $700. The selection process is managed in close collaboration with the school’s guidance counsellor, ensuring that the scholarships benefit financially challenged students who exhibit strong academic potential. The funds are distributed at the beginning of the school year to support the recipients.
