St. Hugh's High School Alumnae Association Canada
2021 was our first foray into providing financial support for students to advance their education, by issuing one full scholarship and one bursary to two students. This led to the establishment of The Daphnie Morrison Scholarship, in 2022. It aims to honor the remarkable contributions of Mrs. Daphnie Morrison, an esteemed English teacher at St. Hugh’s High. Her impact on the lives of many alumnae was the basis for creating a scholarship in her name a natural and heartfelt choice.
The program sought to award five scholarships of CAD $500 each to support students with financial need. Due to successful fundraising efforts, the program was able to expand its reach, providing seven scholarships of CAD $500 each in its inaugural year.
In 2023, the scholarship program continued its mission by awarding a total of seven scholarships. For the 2024 school year, four scholarships were awarded to students from grades 9 to 11, each valued at CAD $500. Additionally, three scholarships were awarded to students from grades 12 and 13, each valued at CAD $700 and two valued at $350. The selection process is managed in close collaboration with the school’s guidance counsellor, ensuring that the scholarships benefit financially challenged students who exhibit strong academic potential. The funds are distributed at the beginning of the school year to support the recipients.
